Bike Day # 11

Today was bike day.  I did not ride the full 25 minutes.  I ended up stopping at 4 miles (not quite 18 minutes).  It took all that I could to go those four miles in 18 minutes.  I just didn’t feel like it, but I did.

Still watching The Blues Brothers.  The scenes, I rewound it to the soul Food Cafe and that song, Ray’s Music exchange Carrie Fisher’s third attempt at Jake (Flame thrower and the propane tank) the Nazi’s go to Wrigley field to find Elwood and finally they pull up to Bob’s Country Bunker.  That’s where I’ll pick up next time.

This week, Thursday

I decided to do the Pilates for Dummies video again.  I really like it!  I didn’t supplement it with anything else, although I thought about doing some fire-hydrants. 

For those who might not know, fire hydrants are this:  You are down on hands and knees.  Imagine that there is a fire hydrant to your side and imagine that you are a puppy who needs to go pee.  So you lift up your leg!

You can do other things as well (circle your leg and kicks for example) and it’s a really good butt firmer.

Week 10, bike day

Today is Tuesday, Bike day.  I watched The Blues Brothers while biking today.  The mall chase scene Carrie Fisher’s first two attempts at Jake, they get most of the band members (including the scenes at Chez Paul, one of my favorite parts “How much for the Girl?  How much for the girl, your daughters?”) the Illinois Nazi’s get ran off the bridge and into the river and to the Soul Food Cafe.  That’s where the movie picks up next week.  The great thing about this movie, is that you can start it and stop it, but then again it also helps that I’ve seen The Blues Brothers over and over and over….

I rode 25 minutes 5 1/2 miles.  I think instead of aiming for 30 minutes, I’m going to aim for 6 miles in 25 minutes.  I think a ride for a full 30 minutes will end up taking too long of a lunch.  I still need to shower afterwards and still eat.

Pilates video, part 2

Yes, I did everything right.  My abs are a little sore this morning.  I still might pair it up with something else, though.  Some Yoga perhaps.

Week 9, Video day

This is my video day of the week.  Today I used a new video Pilates for Dummies.  It was a really good video.  About 20 minutes in all of actual pilates.  It was good.  We’ll see how my abs feel this evening.  I may have to pair that up with some extra Yoga afterwards or the Core DVD.

Whatever week I’m on, Tuesday…

Today I put in The Blues Brothers to watch while I ride.  I got as far as the car chase in the mall scene.

Anyway, I started riding the bike and probably about 5 minutes into it, I noticed that all the info was blanked out.  AAAAAAAAAAAArgh… so I had to reset the timer.  Instead of a brand new 25 minutes, I set it for 20 minutes.  I think combined, I rode for 25 minutes??

So for the counted for 20 minutes, I rode 4.5 miles (probably closer to 5.25 miles combined).  I feel really good, just a little aggravated in what happened early on in the ride.  Oh well.

I think on Thursday I’ll try my new Pilates video and see what happens there.  I know that I am making a difference as my older jeans actually fit okay yesterday and I wore them all day!  YIPPEE!!!

They came today!

I purchased/won a couple of items on ebay.  2 VHS casettes 15-Minute workouts for Dummies and Pilates Workout for Dummies.  and 15 Minute Pliates Box.  They BOTH came today!! 

The Pilates for Dummies is 40 minutes long, which is fine.  It’ll be a good work out.  I think I’ll try this one Thursday.  I can’t wait to use them.  On a side note, I think I’ll be watching Blues Brothers when I ride my bike.  Hopefully soon I’ll win the 15 minute Strength DVD.

Week 8, Thursday

Today I used a video that I’ve had for a while,  Nancy Ruby’s Yoga Motion.  I got it with my Yoga mat.  It was good.  It’s 45 minutes long so the poses are held for a little bit.

Included were poses that I’ve done before and a new one or two.  I think that this will be in my video rotation more often.  :)

Tuesday, week 8

Well, today I took a step backwards.  I only rode on the bike for 20 minutes instead of 25 like planned, but I did ride 4 miles.  That’s okay I guess.

The movie that I had been watching Seven Brides for Seven Brothers ended with about 5 minutes left.  Now I’ll have to find something else to watch.

Week 7 Day 2

Today, I did my Core DVD & Yoga DVD.  Wahoo!! 

 I really like the Core DVD.  the Yoga one will take some time getting used to.  Because it’s only 15  minutes, you don’t really hold the poses as long as you probably should.  But it was good.  Something that I can pop in whenever I need a moment.
