The bike and a new plan of action
Now that I am officially working from home, I plan on upping my bike time from 20 minutes to 30 minutes. I no longer have the drive to and from work, so I will take those extra 10 minutes and ride the bike. Maybe this week and next week I’ll start with 25 minutes and by the end of the month, 30 minutes. We’ll see…

Week 6, part 3!!
Yippee!! there is a part 3.
This morning, once again, I was awake at 5:00. I willed myself out of bed to do some yoga. My sister had given me a Yoga Deck a couple of years ago for Christmas. This was the first time I actually used it!! My yoga workout wasn’t what it should have been, as my four year old son woke up abput 5:20. He was helping me.
Bonus track, I finally won the McDonald’s Yoga DVD on e-bay!! Yahoo!! One more to find, Strength.

Week 6, part 2
Yippee!!! There is a part 2. I wasn’t sure if it would happen with the office move or not.
I did ride the bike today and I did 4.25 miles in 20 minutes. I think I’m getting used to riding the bike and can “go” farther. The other 4 mile rides had been in just over 20 minutes. I was thisclose to 4 miles that I decided to just do it.
Does packing and moving count as exercise? If not, it should! Tomorrow my cube & computer gets moved home and as of Monday, I’ll officially be a WAHM. The kids will continue to go to school. I doubt I’d get much work done otherwise. It’ll be nice once Kindergarten starts. We won’t have to worry about before & after care and we won’t have to worry about who’s going to stay home with the sick child.

Week 6, part 1
I’m writing this as part one as I hope that there will be a part 2 on Thursday.
Yes, the time is really 6:05 AM. This morning I woke up at 5:00 (not unusual as DH wakes up at that time to go to work). Instead of falling back asleep, I decided to actually get up and do something. I did the 15 minute Core DVD. I did it once as ease me into in and then a 2nd time, as I’m up for a challenge. My abs are going to be sore.
I thought about riding the bike, but I decided that I needed to be gentle this morning as my body is still waking up. Now it’s time to get in the shower and ready for another day of getting the office packed up.
Later!!

Walking
The week were were gone, we also managed to go out for a couple walks, YEAH!! Nothing too far as the kids are in tow, or rather I’m pushing them. This is a shame.
The summer year between High School and College, I walked just about every night. It didn’t matter how hot it was, I just called up a friend (or aunt) and we walked. It usually ended up being a couiple of miles. This was all in preparation for college. Family rule was I was not to take the car. I’d have to hoof it.
One night, it was a beautiful evening. I started out walking with one of my friends. She was done, but I was still raring to go, so I kept on. While walking, I met up with a another couple so I walked with them for a little bit. All in all, I re-tracked in my car to figure out how far I had walked. The total? Seven miles. Anyone who’s been to my hometown knows that walking seven miles around town is pretty good!
While in Macomb freshman year my roomie and I walked EVERY WHERE. We had to. Neither of us had a car and we were usually too cheap to take a cab! One afternoon we walked downtown. We decided, oh it’s not much further to the bread store, so we walked. We kept doing that to various stores and the next thing we knew, we had walked to Wal-mart!! We ended up calling a cab back. It would have been quite a trek back with our purchases.
I really miss those long walks just because and just to get out. Now we have bath time and bed time to deal with. I can deal with the heat, so I’m not sure why I don’t take the kids for much longer walks.

Week 4 & 5
Week 4 ~ Septemeber 12, 2007
Techincally week 5, but I was gone last week. Anyways…
The work situation must be stressing me out (once that dust settles, it’ll be another blog entry) as I had some energy to burn… Instead of my usual 3.33 miles I actually rode 4 YIPEE!!! My average speed was 11-12 mph rather than 10 mph.
Time go go back to work. btw: we are having a food day…
PS… While riding on the bike today, I watched Seven Brides for Seven Brothers instead of a TV show. The 20 minutes flew by!!!
Week 5 ~ September 20, 2007
Here it is week 5. I’m still exercising.
Tuesday I rode 4 miles on the stationary bike, watching Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and like the week before, I averaged 11-12 mph. Yeah me!!
Today I did the Cardio 15 minute workout from McDonalds. I’ve discovered that this brings out the jiggly in some of my areas. Not cool!! Oh well, something to work on.
So now I have the Core and Cardio DVD. I’m still trying to win the Yoga and Strength DVD from e-bay. No luck yet. I’m hoping to get all of them so that when I need a break from work, I can pop in a DVD and do it!

Week 3
Week 3 ~ August 28, 2007
Yeah!!! I’m still sticking with it. Today, I rode 3 .33 miles in 20 minutes, a steady 10 MPH.
Next week, no bike riding. I’ll be gone, but hopefully I’ll be doing lots of walking.
Ok, I’ve gotta go. Time to de-stink and go back to work!!
Week 3 appended ~ August 30, 2007
Today at lunch I did one of those 15 minute workout’s from McDonald’s. Yes, McD’s had a free 15 minute workout when they were introducing the premium salads about a year and a half ago. For the first time, I used mine!!
It is the core (abs mostly) and I took it easy. We’ll see how my abs feel later today or tomorrow and if they aren’t hurting, I’ll soup it up next time! It is a toned down version of pilates.
Before I did yoga, I did pilates. It was good. Doing it weekly, I felt myself getting stronger. I miss having the time (and money) to go weekly to either pilates or yoga. Hopefully after I get back from vacation, I will add another day of exercise. If I can talk the Hubby into it, we’ll get a family membership at the gym and I can add something else to my routine. Either walking on the treadmill or whatever.
Time will tell…

Weeks 1 and 2
Week 1 ~ August 14, 2007
Well, over lunch hour today I rode the bike for 20 minutes. I didn’t die.
I’m thinking that once a week I’ll ride the bike and also do Yoga as well. I had done Yoga for almost 4 years, but once Kaitlyn was too big for Mom/Baby Yoga, I haven’t gone back.
It’s been almost a year and that’s what kept the weight stable.
Week 2 ~ August 22, 2007
Today I did it again. I went home and used the exercise bike. 20 minutes, average speed 10 mph and “rode” 3 miles. Again, I didn’t die, but certainly thought that my butt bone was going to fall off.
So far, I’ve been able to stick to the once a week thing. Hopefully if all goes well, I’ll up it to twice a week exercising starting October.
I will be taking the first week of September off. We will be gone for the week. We should be able to get out and walk though.

The beginning… Accountability…
First posting date: August 14, 2007.
I know that I need to work out. I’ve said since the beginning of the year that I would come home during lunch and ride the stationary bike once or twice a week. Saying and doing are two different things. I have yet to do it once.
I need to hold myself accountable. I plan on doing it here. If it gets too long, then I’ll start a new blog about it.
This morning I took some measurements. It confirmed what I already knew. My top is fine, but when I gain weight, it goes to my thighs and butt.
I NEED to do something. I NEED to be held accountable. This is where I will do it…

Where do I begin??
Here I am venturing in the world of blogging. Bear with me!! Mostly this will be a place for me being accountable for exercising. I’ve blogged a little on mypsace, some of that I will copy over. Like I said, It’s a bit rough.
